Your business must be more than 2 years old, have more than 10 employees and have a specific project(s) in mind- subject to approval and availability! Please contact S.Semple@staffs.ac.uk , who also deals with longer term (18-36 months) KTP projects, although these are not free! She can also refer you to Collaborative Training Accounts which subsidise 12 month placements of ICT graduates on specific projects for further research.

Many SMEs in West Midlands qualify for free technical assistance (not necessarily hi-tec, even low-tec companies can benefit from a helping hand) from local universities under www.wm-technet.co.uk (Technology Network) and WMMW (Mobile & Wireless) both funded by ERDF grants – contacts on those websites or email enterprise@staffs.ac.uk including your postcode.
Staffordshire University are also offering a variety of schemes to help graduates set up their own business including SPEED & EFS Entrepreneurial Fellowship Scheme – comprehensive support for business start up.
