Profile
Since 1999, KIC has:
trained over 5,000 young people between 12
and 24
been On-Air 12 times, broadcasting to
thousands of potential listeners
Any young person can get involved in KICfm
and absolutely no previous experience is
necessary. Training in all aspects of
radio, - in both on AND off-air positions -
is provided by our experienced staff, so
whether you want to be a presenter or
producer, reporter or researcher, or even if
you just want to help out behind the scenes,
there's something for everyone at KICfm. And
unlike so-called work experience at other
radio stations, at KIC you can stay for as
long as you want and do as much as you want -
there's no limit to what you can learn!
And if you're over 16, you can become a
Millennium Volunteer through KIC, meaning
that you'll get even more out of your KIC
experience, with a national award recognised
by employers, colleges and universities for
those who volunteer 200 hours of their time.
Tune in to KIC and you can expect to hear a
healthy mixture of chart and alternative
music during the day, and at night you'll
find the widest variety of music anywhere on
your dial – expect to hear rock, nu-metal,
indie, bhangra, garage, R n B and even jazz
during our jam-packed schedule. All of the
music and programming on KIC is decided by
people like YOU, so if there's a style of
programme or type of music that you think
isn't being catered for, then why not get
involved and shows us what we're mssing?
